This morning we decamped from the Roosevelt National Forest after three days under the mountainous stars just a stone’s throw from Rocky Mountain National Park.
I adored this entry! Smiling and smirking through it, knowing whose hand crafted those meaty observations. You definitely leave me longing for a beer by the river, especially in your company.
This newsletter landing in my inbox is just like opening the door to a brown paper package wrapped up in string on my porch. I just cannot wait to unwrap it. Here's to paper- thin tee shirts and living below our means! Love you guys!
You are the best, Kendall! What a supportive and endlessly lovely being you continue to be! We are excited to see you, most likely in the fall? Big love to you!
What an amazing adventure you are having. Enjoyed reading about your last month. When you are no longer able to do what you are doing, I suspect you'll be able to earn what you need to live by writing about your travels.
Hey Lisa! Great to hear from you, and great to know you are enjoying our weird little writing project. In a week, or so, we are off to a place called Toolik Research Station in Alaska for a two-month gig. There will surely be more to say about birds and work and working while birding! Hope you are having a lovely San Diego summer!
Have fun in Alaska! It was nice here until this past weekend when the first heat wave of the summer hit. It's better now, but will warm up again this coming weekend. Migration was kind of slow, with few rarities until this month. There was a Prothonotary Warbler, Yellow-green Vireo (still present at the Zoo), Red-eyed Vireo, and I forget what else. I didn't do any chasing. I've seen all of these birds in the county more than once. Have seen some butterflies this year I've not seen before.
Sounds like some good activity! We have never seen the YGVI in the US, so that would be fun! We have had a good week; had three juvenile Northern Hawk Owls near our friend's cabin, and in Idaho, while hiking in some national forest land near our BLM campsite, we stumbled upon a pair of Great Gray Owls feeding their baby! It was an amazing week. We head north from Fairbanks tomorrow; a nine-hour drive to get to Toolik. It is going to be absolutely beautiful! we'll keep you posted!
What a wonderful world, my son you and Rachel look like you are enjoying every moment of your incredible journey
Love you love your life ❤️
